The Riverside Signal is being set up to become your actual source of local news, arts, heritage and culture. Covering the five independent boroughs surrounding the Toms River, we at the Signal will provide comprehensive coverage and insight on the people, places, things and ideas that make our individual municipalities tick.
The Signal bases its mindset on the foundation created by that of former Toms River-based newspaper, the New Jersey Courier (1850-1968), by dedicating our existence to give factual account and visual record to our often overlooked and underreported region. In concert with this, we promise to provide to our residents an avenue of participation and communal action by inviting comment and opinion, firsthand accounts and multimedia contributions in the form of written, recorded or photographed works.
And so it is. There are many other goals and features forthcoming with this exciting new prospect, but for now we’ll leave it at that. We at the Signal look forward to being your eyes and ears as we carry forward into this new century with our mission of consistency – a concrete base of municipal meetings, police and fire blotters and the daily workings of our region from which we can build up.
